Great Britain’s gambling industry is in a constant state of change, fuelled by shifting consumer behaviour and the rapid growth of technology. Within this uniquely challenging and evolving environment, The Gambling Commission’s role is to ensure that gambling is crime free, fair and open - and that children and vulnerable people are protected. The Gambling Commission are now looking for a Company Secretary to support an unprecedented period of strategic change within the organisation on an interim basis for a fixed term contract of 12 months.

As the Company Secretary, you will be tasked with leading a strategic review of the Gambling Commission’s governance framework and arrangements.
Providing high level advice to the Chairman, Committee Chairs and the Chief Executive regarding governance issues, you will work to continuously improve the governance framework and structures to enhance accountability.
This is a key, vital role that will see you getting involved in a variety of operational activities that enhance areas such as the complaints process, the quality of documentation produced and the business conducted by the Board and Committee.
Additionally, you will help with the recruitment of talented and enthusiastic Commissioners and will lead, manage and coach a small team of Governance Managers.

- To be an experienced Company Secretary or have equivalent experience as a governance professional
- A track-record of success in supporting and developing colleagues
- The ability to lead a small team of Governance Managers giving day to day practical support and guidance
- The ability to secure the confidence of senior internal stakeholders across the Commission
- The resilience to deliver at pace, often through high levels of ambiguity and organisational complexity
- To be capable of balancing both strategic and operational governance priorities, whilst carrying out a review of overall approach to governance
